1971 Triumph Bonneville Bobber with Morgo 750cc Big Bore Kit by Todd by
Todd of Small City Cycles from the city of Star, Idaho, United States, made available these pictures of his beautiful Triumph Bonneville Bobber which has a 1971 Triumph engine in a late 1960's Triumph frame with a bolt on hardtail. The Triumph vertical twin engine of this hardtail Bobber was punched from 650cc to 750cc by a Morgo big bore kit. Read more...
Todd: "Frame is stock 1960's front section with a vintage bolt on hardtail rear section. Frame has been powdercoated gloss black for durability. Actually, all the black on the bike other than the fork covers, tank and fender is powdercoated."
Todd: "Seat is a custom made pan, covered by a local shop here in town, very nicely done. New mounting bracket and 3" seat springs. Seat hinges up for oil cap access."
Todd: "Oil tank is a vintage vertical mount tank I was told came off an old Triumph drag bike. I left it the chrome as found and it really adds to the bikes vintage feel, plus I like the look of old chrome!"
1971 Triumph Bonneville Engine w/ Morgo Big Bore Kit
Todd: "Motor is a 1971 Bonneville with a Morgo 750 big bore kit. Title matches the motor numbers. I am not the one rebuilt the motor but I did pull the top end and checked everything and it looked good. Pistons and cylinder walls were very nice. Valves looked great. I installed a new head gasket, pushrod tube gaskets, and rocker box o-rings and gaskets. Two brand new Amal carbs with brand new velocity stacks.
Brand new chrome dual lead coil with a Mity Max battery eliminator. Vintage cloth covered wire."
Todd: "Brand new exhaust head pipes, hangers and clamps. The rear "mufflers" (there is nothing in them...) are vintage and were not rechromed. I have not seen another set like them and have no idea what they came off of, just something I had in the shop. They have scratches here and there but are in nice shape, one of my favourite things about the bike."
Hear That Sound!
Check out this little movie clip of Todd starting the engine. (Note Todd touching the exhaust - this is the first start of the day)
Triumph Bobber Fuel Tank
Todd: "Gas tank is an original Wassell, creamed inside, painted glossy black, new petcocks. The tear drop tank "flare" is something I built custom for this bike - no other one like it!"
Triumph Bobber Headlight and Handlebars
Todd: "Custom headlight mount with vintage headlight. Headlight is one of the things left as-is, I have never seen another light like it.
New drag bars with all new grips, levers and cables.
Front forks are 1960's Triumph. The lowers have been powdercoated black and have new fork seals and bushings. Brand new fork boots. Trees have been powdercoated black. Short fork covers were painted a gloss black."
Triumph Bobber Wheels
No brakes - hardcore style bicycle wheel
Todd: "Front wheel is a brand new spool 21" with a brand new Avon Speedmaster tire."
Todd: "Rear wheel is a powder coated hub and sprocket laced with stainless spokes to a brand new 18" chrome rim. Vintage 5.20 tire."
Triumph Hardtail Bobber Rear End
Todd: "NOS Wassell fender with custom made fender strut / sissy bar. New chrome bullet light and brake switch. Hand made hidden brake arm and rod."
