GrandPaul has just completed restoration of a 1968 Bonneville for a client. I saw this project in its early stages. GP had just picked up the frame and various parts from being powdercoated. GP had less to work with on this Bonnie than he did with my TR6. I believe he had to find a donar bike to make the complete bike. It turned out beautiful and, I think GP is delivering it this weekend.

I thought you all might enjoy photos of the finished project. It's gorgeous.

Notice that the Bonnie has stainless steel fenders while my TR6 will have painted fenders. I think the TR6 got stainless steel fenders in 1969 when it was renamed from Trophy to Tiger.

Wow, very nice indeed Carl! Dontcha just love it when a plan comes together?
I'm sure you'll enjoy every minute of every mile (yeah, sure, a mile a minute if you feel like it)
It's so cool when you pull up somewhere on a bike such as this where there's a good number of pretty recent bikes already there and you eclipse all of them.
I love it! :y2:

Take care, -Bill

Regarding the stainless fenders (mud guards), from memory and looking at a couple of my photos from the time, 68 US Bonnie had stainless but were painted in 69 & 70.
I well remember in 69 a mate had his 68 Bonnie repainted and it only involved the black bits such as side cover oil tank h/l brackets etc and the tank, stainless guards just got a polish. As a custom mod we with 69's changed to alloy guards or got them chromed.

Looks great!

BTW...my '69 Tiger has painted fenders with a silver stripe outlined with a white pinstripe.

Thanks, much, Bill. Yes, riding my '68 Trophy brings a lot of compliments and conversation. I love my baby!
