1950 T6 Thunderbird, I would like to pot a larger tire on the rear, any suggestions?

What is the stock size for your bike? Also, can you take a measurement between your swing arms where the widest part of the existing tire passes between?

I have fitted tires in the stock size for my bike—in the rear, 4.00-18”—but the Bridgestone Battlax in that size is wider than the OEM brand, which was on the bike when I bought it. So, merely fitting the Battlax in the stock size netted a wider tire (up front, too). Here are photos of the clearance on my bike—first three are rear, last two are front...

I did not have to modify anything—but can compare my swing arm to yours if you provide measurements.

Stock tyre sizes are curiously difficult to find? However, the (original) rear rim was 19" and WM2 width; as even Triumph fitted OE 4.00 tyres on WM3 rims, I suspect a 50 twin's original rear tyre was 3.50?
