I am considering the purchase of one of these bikes - both look terrific if only judging from their on line pix. The '07 has just 645kms and the '04 has 53,000kms.
The owner of the '07 is asking almost new pricing: $8,800 and the '04 has accepted an offer of $5,000 (I just need to sell my '06 VFR now). Two questions: I am a little concerned about the relative high mileage of the '04 and should I be or with regular maintenance should this engine last forever? Also the extremely low mileage of the '07 suggests it has been sitting many years and should I therefore be concerned about condition of the EFI, tires, fuel system/tank etc.?

Any and all feedback welcome!

Thanks

These engines are overbuilt and very strong and durable. If the '04 has been taken care of (regular oil changes, etc.) I wouldn't worry too much about the mileage. It's just nicely broken in and has lots of life in it yet.
The price for the '07 is pretty high alright. If I was going to pay that much for it I would opt for a new one with fresh everything.
As for the condition of the '07, you would need to get a close look at it; see how it starts and runs, etc.
By now the tires have aged and would/should need to be replaced soon. Tires get old and harden just sitting around.
A lot depends on how the bik was stored.
Some questions can't be answered here without being there.

I agree with Rocky's assessment of the mileage. I know of a guy in California who has over 200,000 miles/321,868 kilometers on his 01 Bonneville. He does his own maintenance; but he has never been into the engine.

The '04 will have carbs (at least in the US they do) and the 07 should have EFI. Does this make a difference to you? Personally, I prefer carbs; I can work on them. I love the EFI on my Tiger 800; but I'm glad my Bonnie has carbs.

I believe Rocky and Carl covered it pretty well and I have nothing to add other than this. . . I love the EFI on my Tiger but the thoughts of having to work on an EFI system scares the beejeebbers out of me. But with that said, if I ever purchase another race bike. . . it will have EFI on it.

It's an '07 Carl I liked the mods the original owner has done to it. And the colour too!

Yeah, the colour did it for me too. Yellow is my favourite.

I have never really cared for yellow bikes . . . might be from early racing days when there was this one yeller bike that ate my lunch regularly but your's really pops and I have changed my mind about yeller bikes. TUP

still got a soft spot for yellow myself

If he hadn't accepted my offer for the yellow one the blue was next on my list. Would have worked well for a Toronto Blue Jays and Maple Leaf fan!

Congrats on your new ride. I love the colour as well. Is that an original colour? I've never seen it before.

Is was apparently black coming off the showroom floor back in '07 but the original owner got a Ford Mustang paint code and had a local paint shop match it to that and then had another hand paint a gold pin strip around the Triumph swoop.

My best friend and riding partner bought a 2012 T100 in graphite. The colour scheme sealed the deal for her: the Saints. I bought her a license plate frame with NO Saints on it to tie it all together. Looks awesome. It's a beautiful, subtle bike. My 2006 T100 in orange & white gets all the attention when we're out though. No team affiliation for me. Although I still have a soft spot in my heart for the Edmonton Oilers.
