center stand

I've got a scheduled dealer install of a center stand on my '14 Bonnie (base) next week. Was wondering 1) how easy is it to swing the bike back/up on the stand? 2) does the stand ever scrape the pavement on tight turns? I was also wondering why a couple of pieces of jointed metal costs $280...
