Came across a new offering for the Adventure bike crowd and I must say I like everything I see so far. The Dunlop Trailmax Mission will probably be my next tire choice;

As I will be venturing into the wilds of Labrador and Newfoundland this Summer, I will need a tire that can give me better traction on a wider range of road surface. This seems to fit my criteria. Just have to wait for some to become available in Canada. Seems they are rather hard to get anywhere but the continental US right now.

I am impressed with this tire and will probably try a set this spring. I am planing to ride across the US to Washington state and back. I will do some off pavement riding so I need a good multi surface tire.

Q, thanks for the post. TUP TUP

@Qship I read some of the reviews and watched some of the video reviews.I am impressed. I won't be able to do the Trans Labrador highway this time. I will be traveling parts of the TransAmerica Trail and parts of the Shadow of the Rockies Trail I will visit my son in Louisiana, my youngest daughter in Denver and my oldest daughter in Redmond, Washington. I will also visit friends, Army buddies, and cousins along the way. This is a bucket list trip. I plan to ride up Pikes Peak, also.

That does look like an epic ride Carl. Wish you the best and hope all goes smoothly. Doing it solo or have a riding partner?
I will be solo for the most part. My son may ride wth me from Leesville, Louisiana to Denver. Some long timer friends may ride with me on various legs of the journey. But most of them no longer ride off pavement; so I will do those legs solo.

So @CarlS, how did you decide those were Trailmax tires from what little Qship said about them in his OP?
As Q said, the tire name and model were in the thread title. I researched it from there.

Nice looking tire Q . When are you heading north ?
Probably the second week of July timeframe. Actually going to do the trip with a fellow from Charlottetown who rides a Super Tenere( yeah, yeah, I know, I'll have to slow it down a bit so the Yamaha can keep up).
Leave it any later and the blackflies will drag your body into the woods and feed on you. There are no UFO's and aliens abductions in Labrador. Just lots and lots of bugs. They don't ever find the body remains, 'cause what the blackflies don't get, the mosquitoes do. :LOL:

Anyone have any info on the life of the Trailmax? I was going to get them last week when I had tires put on my 1200 XCA but went with the Anakee Adventures until I hear more about the life of the new Dunlops. I have burned through 5 sets of tires on my Tiger and I will say the Anakee Adventures are by far the best tire I've had so far, on any bike, on pavement or dirt! I have no idea how long they'll last? They feel like they're going to melt on me within 3k miles! I just went through a set of the Trailsmarts and didn't like them. They weren't "great" on the road and very slippery on dirt...and they didn't last more than 2.5k miles! I'm following the Trailmax and will go to it, eventually.

The Anakee Adventure should last 10k miles? I'll be happy if I get 6k out of them...10k would be amazing! I have yet to be on a tire that lasts more than 8k! The longest-lasting tires were 8k miles (Michelin PR3) on my Concours, 6k miles on any tire I put on my 2106 Trophy, and 3k on my Tiger.
